Arish Shahab

Arish Shahab is a co-founder of Amano, a startup building radically affordable hearing care. His team designed a battery-free, over-the-counter hearing aid — a purely mechanical device modeled on the human ear — that can cost as little as ~$20 a pair, a fraction of the price of conventional hearing aids.

A biomedical engineering student at McMaster University, he started Amano out of lived experience: he and his co-founders each had family members affected by hearing loss, and set out to make hearing accessible to the millions long priced out of it.
